3D Tennis Game
A free 3D tennis game you play right in your browser: singles or doubles, on hard, clay or grass. Serve, rally and win the match, then climb the tour against named opponents for the trophy. Real tennis rules, no download.
On a phone: run with your left thumb, hold HIT and release as the ball arrives (swipe up: smash, down: drop shot). On a keyboard: WASD to run, J hits, K lobs.
How to play
- 1
Pick the format and opponent level, then press Play: quick match (10-point tie-break), short set, full set, two short sets with a match tie-break, or the rally drill. Matches can be singles or doubles (2-on-2 with a partner).
- 2
When it is your serve, hold HIT: the ball goes up. Release when it reaches the top; the longer you hold, the harder the serve. Aim with the joystick or the arrow keys.
- 3
In a rally, run with your left thumb to where the ball will land, hold HIT and release when the ball arrives. On a computer, run with WASD or the arrows and hit with J. The landing spot is marked on the court.
- 4
The Tour runs from Club to Final against five named opponents, each with their own playing style. In the Match of the day everyone faces the same opponent style on the same surface that day; your first try of the day is official. On your first free singles match a short tutorial guides you step by step.
- 5
Every game earns XP: levelling up unlocks kits, characters and accessories, and three daily missions and your day streak keep you coming back.
- 6
When the match ends, share your result on WhatsApp. A friend who opens the link sees your score as the target.
The real tennis rules in the game
The game applies the ITF Rules of Tennis for singles. The moments that test you on a real court test you here too.
- Serve crosscourt
- You serve from behind the baseline into the diagonally opposite service box. When the points played add up to an even number (0–0, 15–15) you serve from the right, otherwise from the left.
- Two chances
- If your first serve misses the box, you hit a second serve. If the second serve is also a fault, it is a double fault and you lose the point.
- Let
- A serve that touches the net and lands in the correct box is a let: the serve is replayed and does not count as a fault.
- One bounce
- The ball may bounce at most once on your side. If it bounces twice, the point goes to your opponent. You can also volley before the bounce, but a serve must bounce before you return it.
- A ball on the line is in
- The singles court is 8.23 m wide: the doubles alleys are out. A ball touching the line is in, and in a rally a ball that clips the net and lands in stays in play.
- Aces and winners
- A good serve the receiver does not touch is an ace. A shot your opponent cannot reach also wins you the point.
Match formats: short set, full set and match tie-break
The formats come from the ITF Rules of Tennis and the short formats in its appendix. All of them are used in club events and quick matches.
- 01
Short set
The first to win 4 games by two takes the set; at 4–4 a 7-point tie-break is played. The serve changes every game; within a game the score goes 15, 30, 40 and game.
- 02
Full set
The first to win 6 games by two takes the set; at 6–6 a tie-break is played: first to 7 points by two. After the first point the serve changes every two points.
- 03
Best of 3 with a match tie-break
Two short sets are played. At one set all, a 10-point match tie-break replaces the third set, a common format in club and doubles events. The match tie-break counts as a 1–0 set.
- 04
Match tie-break
The first to 10 points by two wins; from 9–9 it goes on until someone leads by two. Played on its own, it is a quick match of a few minutes.
- 05
Advantage or deciding point
At deuce the normal rule is advantage: win two points in a row to take the game. With a deciding point, one point ends the game; in a real match the receiver picks the side, in the game it is served from the right (deuce) side.
- 06
Rally drill
No score is kept. Your hitting partner feeds the ball and plays it back to you; the streak lasts until you hit into the net or out, or fail to return the ball. The longer it goes, the faster and wider the balls.
Frequently asked questions
Is the tennis game free?
Yes. The game runs in your browser; no download, sign-up or payment.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. When you press Play the game goes full screen; holding your phone sideways is more comfortable. 3D graphics need an up-to-date browser (WebGL 2).
Are the rules in the game real tennis rules?
Point rules follow the ITF Rules of Tennis: crosscourt serve, second serve and double fault, let, one bounce, lines and net. In doubles the alleys are in during the rally. The formats are real too: short set, full set, best of 3 with a match tie-break and a single match tie-break; advantage or a deciding point at 40–40. There are no foot faults, and since the camera always stays behind you, there are no change of ends either.
How do I serve?
Hold HIT: the ball goes up. Release when it reaches the top. How long you hold sets the pace, and the joystick or arrow keys set the direction. With simple controls the ball is tossed for you and you swipe at the top.
How do doubles work?
Choose Doubles in the match settings: you and an AI partner play against two opponents. You can pick a same-gender or mixed pair. The rally drill, the tour and the match of the day are played as singles.
What is the tour?
Five named opponents across the Club, City, National and Final stages. Each stage brings a stronger opponent and a longer match: Club and City are quick matches, National a short set, the Final two short sets and a match tie-break. Lose and you replay the same opponent; win the final and the trophy is yours, then the tour starts again.
What is the match of the day?
Every day everyone plays the same match: a singles quick match at medium level, with the opponent's style, surface and venue set by the day. Your first try of the day is official: your result shows in the menu and you earn extra XP and an achievement. Later tries count as practice. The day is your device's local date, and you can share the result with a link.
What are levels, missions and unlocks for?
Every finished match earns XP, with extra XP for wins, aces, perfect shots and long rallies. There are three new missions every day and a streak for the days you play in a row. Levelling up unlocks looks such as kits, characters and accessories; none of them gives an advantage in the game. Your progress is kept only in this browser.
Can I pick my character, surface and venue?
Yes. Choose one of 12 fictional characters, your kit and accessories. The surface can be hard court, city hard court, clay or grass, and the bounce and pace of the ball change with it. The venue can be indoors, or outdoors by day or at night.
Is there a leaderboard?
Yes, for the rally drill: after a drill at medium level you can join the weekly table under a nickname. Your streak is recalculated on our server from the game recording; a score changed in the browser is not accepted. The table resets every Monday (UTC). No prizes, just bragging rights.
How do I challenge a friend?
When the match ends, press the WhatsApp button or copy the link. Your friend sees your result and the opponent level, and tries to do better at the same level. The link contains no name or contact details.
